Julia Roberts' friends rallied around her on Thursday just a few hours after her mother passed away.
The actress' mom, Betty Lou Bredemus, died after battling lung cancer in the early hours of the morning. She was 80-years-old.
As news broke, the star's friends rushed to the actress' side as she began the difficult task of visiting her mother's home in West Los Angeles, California.

While many may struggle to enter their late loved ones home on the day they died, the 47-year-old appeared to be determined to get everything in order.
Making sure to be there for the Hollywood star - who has experienced a lot of grief in the past few months - her friends arrived to help.
One female friend embraced the actress as soon as she arrived at the property.

The two women hugged for some time with Julia resting her head on her friends shoulder, not doubt grateful for her support.
Walking into the home, the friend carried what appeared to be a bag of food in one hand and held onto Julia's arm with another.
While it had only been a few hours since her mom's passing, the star - who dressed from head to toe in black - appeared to be very focused on the task at hand showing another friend what she needed down in the home's garden.

Betty Lou's passing comes just a year after her daughter Nancy Motes - Julia's half sister - committed suicide from a drug overdose in February last year.

While Betty Lou's home was nearby it is understood in the last months of her illness she had been living at Julia's Los Angeles home, along with the Oscar-winning actress' husband Daniel Moder and their three children.

A devout Catholic, in her final days Betty as at Catholic hospital, St John's Health Center in Santa Monica, where she passed.
Betty Lou had reportedly battled cancer since November 2013 when a 'cancerous tumour' was found in her lung during a routine MRI scan - but it was only revealed the following February after her daughter Nancy's tragic death.
Julia and her mother were very close with both sharing a love for the arts - Betty ran a dramatic arts school during her younger years.

And it seems acting runs in the family's blood as Betty's other children Lisa and Eric are both actor's and her granddaughter is Emma Roberts.
Betty all but raised Julia, her late half-sister Nancy and the actress' brother and sister Eric and Lisa by herself .
Julia's biological father Walter Grady Roberts died of throat cancer aged 44 when she was just 10 years old.

Walter and Betty had divorced prior to his death in January 1972 and just eight months later she married Michael Motes.
While Eric has said in numerous interviews that their step-father Motes created a household that was unstable and abusive.
Tragically, his and Betty's daughter Nancy, a former production assistant, was discovered by paramedics on the bathroom floor of an LA house on February 9 last year.
She committed suicide, dying from a drug overdose. She was just 37-years-old.
